SAVOY: POETRY READING W/ Christia Madacsi Hoffman and Cynthia Manick

  • Savoy Bookshop and Cafe 10 Canal Street Westerly, RI, 02891 United States (map)

Savoy Bookshop & Café will host a poetry reading with Mystic native Christia Madacsi Hoffman, the author of Intent; and Brooklyn poet Cynthia Manick, the author of Blue Hallelujahs. This event is free and open to the public; no RSVP is required.

Christia Madacsi Hoffman

Christia Madacsi Hoffman grew up along the banks of the Mystic River in Mystic, Connecticut. A longtime Austin, Texas resident, Hoffman’s work has appeared in the Texas Observer and the annual anthology of the Austin International Poetry Festival. Through her company, CenterLight Media, Hoffman works as a marketing and editorial writer, graphic designer and actor. Her early career adventures included antique furniture restoration and leading treks in the high Himalaya.

Inspired by a friend’s daily photography series, Christia Madacsi Hoffman set an intention to write a minimum of two lines of verse per day for 365 days. Four years and thousands of lines later, the result is her debut collection of poetry, Intent. Throughout, Hoffman reveals an accessible and insightful poetic voice as she explores the universal themes of place, beauty, youth and family. Her moving reflections remind us there is depth in our everyday experiences and significance in our intentions. Intent is published by Hedgehog & Fox, an imprint of Warner Literary Group.
