Cheryl Boyce-Taylor is an author and educator. Born in Trinidad and raised in Queens, New York, she is the author of five collections of poetry. Her most recent collection is a verse memoir, Mama Phife Represents, about her son, Hip Hop Legend, Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest (Malik Taylor) It is a love letter from a poet and mother who suddenly loses her son to type one diabetes. This is the story of loss, love, courage and rejuvenation. Boyce Taylor’s work has appeared in Poetry, Prairie Schooner, The Mom Egg, and The Chicago Review of Books. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
